The Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, participated today in the opening ceremony of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments for the new academic year 2023-2024, held at the Secondary Education Institute (IES) “Laguna de Joatzel” in Getafe (Madrid).
It was attended by the mayor of the town, Sara Hernández; the inspector of the National Police Force and Provincial Delegate of Citizen Participation of Madrid, Ester Pulido; and the director of the High Inspection of Education of the Government Delegation, Ángel Canales.
Following the words of the government delegate, high school students have received a talk on Gender Violence given by agents of the National Police. Violence against women, equality and sexual non-discrimination is one of the topics addressed within the Master Plan, which this course will progressively expand its catalogue of contents and contemplate subjects such as bullying and cyberbullying at school; youth violent groups, incívics and vandal behaviors; information and communication technologies; drug consumption, alcohol consumption and other addictions; abuse in the family environment towards childhood and adolescence; trafficking and exploitation of human beings; the prevention of sexual crimes; speech and hate crimes; the disappearance of minors without apparent cause; the protection of intellectual property and the protection of the environment;
As of mid-October, more than 800 applications have been received to participate in the Master Plan talks for the 2023-2024 academic year. A figure that will continue to increase since the call remains open throughout the school year and the centers can be added to the talks at any time.
In the academic year 2022-2023, the total number of talks given exceeded 13,700; 1254 educational centers were visited in 140 towns in Madrid and 342,700 young people participated in them.
About the Master Plan
The Master Plan for the Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments, coordinated by the Government delegations in each Autonomous Community, aims to prevent any risk that affects the safety and well-being of minors and young people, in the school and its environment.
The most outstanding activity carried out under the Plan is the training and information talks addressed to children and adolescents and given by members of the State Security Forces and Corps. In the case of the Community of Madrid, the National Police, the Civil Guard and the Municipal Police of Madrid (at the level of the capital) are responsible for attending schools.
