The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, has visited in the last two days the areas most affected by the Isolated Depression in High Levels (DANA) in the southwest of the region to be able to check in situ the damages caused and collect the impressions of mayors and neighbors of these places.
Yesterday I accompanied the Vice President of the Government and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge in office, Teresa Ribera, in her inspection to the pipeline of the Picadas reservoir that supplies water to 270,000 people in Madrid and Toledo and that has been seriously damaged by the storm. The mayor of Aldea del Fresno, Alberto Plaza Martín, and the government delegate in Castilla La Mancha, Francisco Tierraseca, were also present.
The heavy rains caused the overflow of the Alberche River as it passed through the town of Aldea del Fresno, causing significant material damage, among them, the affectation of this pipe and two bridges intended for road traffic. Thanks to the request sent by the government delegate to the Ministry of Defense, in the coming days, the Ground Army Engineering Command will provisionally install a military bridge to enable the connection with Villamanta.
Subsequently, the government delegate in Madrid traveled to Villa de Prado where, together with the mayor, Belén Rodríguez, he witnessed the ravages caused by the meteorological phenomenon in the agricultural areas of the town.
These meetings are in addition to those held on Monday in Navalcarnero, Villamanta and El Álamo with mayors and neighbors, and where he was also able to know first-hand the state in which these municipalities have remained, at the same time as transferring to them that they have the Government of Spain to face the situation.
