The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, visited the National Dramatic Center this morning, at its headquarters of the María Guerrero Theater, where he was able to learn, with the help of its director, Alfredo Sanzol, the theatrical activities that the center has been programming, both in the season that ends this June, and the forecasts for the next season 2023/2024.
This season, the National Dramatic Center has performed 23 shows in its two theatres, the María Guerrero and the Valle-Inclán. Of these, 9 have been their own productions, 5, under co-production and 12 absolute premieres. The programme includes the Titerscene family theatre cycle and a diverse range of transversal, social and educational activities for audiences and professionals gathered under the umbrella of Dramatic Action, who play a social and pedagogical role. These include workshops, master classes, and programs such as New Dramatics and Dramatic Residences.
Alfredo Sanzol, director of the National Dramatic Center since January 2020, is one of the most recognized and awarded theatrical authors and directors of the Spanish scene. He holds the National Prize for Dramatic Literature, of 2016, for his work “La respiration”, and the XII Valle-Inclán Theatre Prize, of 2017, for his work “La ternura”. In addition, he has received eight Max Performing Arts Awards: five as Best Author and three as Best Show.
