- The attendees have been able to check the operation of the different units and areas with explanations in charge of their heads
- The delegate of the Government has highlighted the work that is done in the institution is how to manage "a small Government", limited to the scope of the Community of Madrid
The Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid, led by Mercedes González, has today opened its doors to publicize the activity it carries out as an institution, an activity framed in “Open Administration Week”.
The delegate of the Government herself was in charge of welcoming the attendees, to whom she explained that the Delegation is “like a government in small”, which allows to have a “broad vision of what is the Government of Spain, transferred to the Community of Madrid” and that, despite this, it remains “the great unknown” for many citizens.
Hence initiatives such as this day of open doors, which have allowed the public to know more about the functioning of the six functional areas of the Government Delegation -Transport, Industry, Work and Immigration, High Inspection of Education, Agriculture and Health- and the coordination units -Against Gender Violence, Citizen Security, Citizen Rights, and Civil Protection-, with the explanations offered by the heads of these departments.
Likewise, those who attended the conference were also able to know about the project “The Administration near you”, which the Government Delegation has already brought to 85 small municipalities in the Community of Madrid to bring the General Administration of the State closer to the citizens. This service already reaches 96.6% of the villages in the region of between 500 and 8,000 inhabitants.
Guided tour
The activity has continued with a guided visit to the Transparency Portal and participation in prior consultation of the Transparency Law, with explanations on how to exercise the rights of access to information and participation in public affairs. A round of questions from the public and a guided tour of the Government Delegation’s palace, with the explanation of the historical details of the institutional headquarters, have served to complete the program of this ‘Open Day’.
Open Administration
It is an initiative promoted worldwide by the Open Gov Week, which in this 2023 is held in Spain between 20 and 24 March. Its main objective is to bring Public Administrations closer to the citizens, based on the principles of Open Government: transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration.
During this week all the Administrations have opened their doors to the citizens by holding conferences, conferences, visits or other events organized in order for anyone to have the opportunity to know inside the public organizations and how public services are provided. Of the 1,009 registered activities, 694 are organized by the General Administration of the State, 152 by the Autonomous Administrations, 18 by the Local Administration, 13 by the Universities and 127 by other entities of the public sector.
The Ministry that has organized the most activities, with 247 events, is the Ministry of Finance and Public Service, followed by the Ministry of Territorial Policy with 172, among which are the open days held by the Government Delegation, as is the case of Madrid.
