- The number of troops at the local National Police station has increased by almost 17% from 2018 to 2022, which has allowed a reduction in crime and an increase in police effectiveness
The total number of crimes fell last year in Fuenlabrada by almost 10% (9.54%) compared to 2019, as highlighted today by the Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Mercedes González, during the Local Security Board, which has presided together with the mayor of the city, Javier Ayala, to take stock of 2022 and examine the first data of 2023. This is the third session attended by the delegate in this municipality, after the ordinary meeting on September 7, 2022 and the extraordinary meeting on October 5, which was also attended by the Superior Chief of Police, Manuel Soto.
A safe city
In Fuenlabrada, “one of the safest cities in the region, most of the criminal typologies have fallen, although the crimes that have fallen the most have been the ones that generate the most social alarm,” said Mercedes González. Robberies with violence fell by 31%, highlighting the decrease in those committed in storage rooms (61.54%), in homes (42.86%) and in vehicles (26.76%).
Also, crimes against people were reduced by 4.29%, highlighting the decrease in gender violence (5.22%) and a decrease of almost 30% (29.03%) in crimes against sexual freedom. In addition, there was a significant decrease in less serious crimes: minor damages (38.63%), card scams (33.93%) and minor injuries (19.21%).
Great police effectiveness
And while criminal activity declines, “police effectiveness in clearing up serious and less serious crimes rises to 42.47%, which means an increase of 2.68% compared to 2019, highlighting 100% effectiveness in the resolution of crimes of gender violence, crimes against people and sexual assaults.”
“If we analyze the first two months of 2023, we continue in a downward trend compared to the previous year, almost 3% less criminal acts (2.64%) compared to the same period of 2022,” said Mercedes González.
Increase in strength
The delegate of the Government has conveyed her congratulations to the National Police “for the good work done, which is giving so good results, and making Fuenlabrada an increasingly safe municipality”. In addition to thanking the City Council, its mayor, the Security Councilor and the Local Police, “the commitment and collaboration they have with the National Police and the Government Delegation to make Fuenlabrada a great place to live safe”.
In this regard, Mercedes González has acknowledged “the commitment of the Government of Spain to security, which has increased the number of members of this local police station by almost 17% in these almost 5 years of government”.
During her speech, the delegate of the Government also recalled that Fuenlabrada, with almost 196,000 inhabitants, concentrates one of the industrial areas with the highest number of companies in the Community of Madrid, having 23 industrial estates and a total of 1,700 companies, where the Cobo Calleja polygon, the largest in Europe, stands out.
