The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has completed the work to adapt to the passage of pedestrians and integrate in the urban plot the stretch of road that connects the N-232 with Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón, in La Rioja, where 350,000 euros (VAT included) of the Recovery Plan have been invested.
Once this action is completed, which allows to promote active and safe mobility and integrate this section fully as an urban road in the municipality, the Ministry hands it over to the City Council. In particular, the section ceded and on which action has been taken goes from the southern roundabout of the link of the N-232, located at km 458, and the roundabout located in the street San Sebastián (536 m of road) of the town. It also passes a section of the N-232A road, between the aforementioned southern roundabout of the link and the polygon (460 m of road).
Thus, the total length of the ceded sections is 996 meters, with an estimated surface area of 16,321 m2, which comprises the area that affects the infrastructure including all roads, sidewalks and islets.
The humanization work has consisted in the construction of sidewalks on both sides of the current road, obtaining an itinerary for pedestrians in conditions of safety and accessibility, thus improving pedestrian mobility, providing public lighting with LED lighting and installing benches and trees in order to achieve a humanized character.
In addition, the works have included the milling and replacement of the firm with bituminous sound absorbing mixture with the aim of reducing the rolling noise in the margins of the stretch where there are nearby homes and the speed allowed to achieve pacification of traffic has been reduced.
Likewise, the surface has been adapted at the beginning of the stretch through the plantation of wooded and upholstered vegetation for its inclusion as a future municipal green area, thereby improving the air quality in Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón.

All this action has been financed from the NextGenerationEU funds, within the voyage humanization program of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), which plans to invest 105 million euros (VAT not included) to promote a more sustainable, inclusive and accessible urban environment.
The transfer was made effective on December 26 of last year, following a resolution by the Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility. This transfer does not affect the continuity of the state road network or its functionality, since the sections have acquired the status of urban road and lack the function of service to long-distance traffic. This change of ownership has been made in accordance with the regulations in force for this purpose and does not entail any transfer of capital, nor does it generate economic obligations or expenditure for the General Administration of the State.
Thus, the City of Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón assumes the ownership of both sections mentioned, with all its auxiliary elements and equipment, being from the day of the resolution reviewed, owner of these and consequently responsible for their conservation, defense and exploitation.
