After the success of the previous course, the Functional Area of High Inspection of Education of the Government Delegation in La Rioja organizes the II Educational Day for Families “Internet Risks”, which celebrates its first session next Monday, December 16, at 6.30 pm at the IES Sagasta in Logroño. In this day, FAPA Rioja and CONCAPA collaborate, as well as with the Civil Guard and National Police, fundamental pieces such as experts in sensitizing and alerting families to the reality faced by their children.
As a novelty of this year, the sessions are also open to teachers interested in expanding their knowledge about the risks of the Internet among their students.
Under the title "Learning through investigations of real cases": Police analysis of failures in the protection of minors against cybercrime and risk situations", this first talk will be given by the national police Silvia Barrera, with extensive experience within the National Police Force within the field of cyberinvestigation and the fight against cybercrime.
In addition, in February it is planned that Guardia Civil will give another two sessions on cybersecurity in La Rioja Alta and Baja.
The II Educational Day for Families "Internet Risks" is part of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments, which has as its main objective the coordination between the educational community and the Security Forces and Bodies to provide young people with the necessary knowledge and tools in different areas. This Plan aims to prevent or detect risk situations that may affect the safety of our students with measures aimed at raising awareness, prevention and early detection of risk situations related to the safety of children and adolescents in educational centers and their environments.

The session "Learning through investigations of real cases": Police analysis of failures in the protection of minors against cybercrimes and situations of risk" will focus on the perspective of the police experience based on investigations of real cases of cybercrimes committed against minors and by minors, such as Grooming, account hacking of minors and teachers, harassment, threats on social networks, sexting occurred in La Rioja.
It will focus on the analysis of practical proposals for parents and educators, trying to show situations of risk on the Internet that result in crime and that are later denounced and investigated.
The cases that are going to be exposed have already been investigated and will try to determine "In what has it been failed?"

Silvia Barrera
Computer Engineer, Master's Degree in Computer Security and Bachelor's Degree in Police Science, has almost 20 years of experience in the field of cyberresearch and the fight against cybercrime in the Police, where she has directed different groups related to the subject. He has also worked in international working groups at EUROPOL and INTERPOL on the same subject.
She is a renowned cybersecurity and cybercrime popularizer, awarded in 2016 by the National Police Foundation and author of several books, such as "Keys of Investigation in Social Networks" (2017) and "Our Children in the Network" (2020). She has been a professor at various universities and a speaker at the most important cybersecurity events in Spain. In addition, he has received multiple awards for his work, including the Universitas Summa Cum Laude in 2017 and awards from associations such as CSO Computer and Friendly Screens.
