The Delegation of the Government of Spain in La Rioja will recognize in the XII edition of the Meninas 2024 Awards the staff of Primary Care of La Rioja, for their fundamental role in the detection and fight against male violence; Daniel Jesús Caro Hernáez, for his career in the Coexistence Unit of the Local Police of Logroño since its launch in 2008; and the founder and president of the Spanish Association of Forensic Social Workers, Pilar Ruiz Rodríguez.
The Government Delegation in La Rioja considers that the winners deserve a Menina in recognition of the value of their interventions to prevent gender violence and for the involvement they have shown in the fight, visibility and denunciation of male violence.
This award, promoted by the Government Delegation for Gender Violence under the Ministry of Equality, is aimed at organizations, institutions and individuals committed to the eradication of violence against women and is part of the commemorative events of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November.
The award ceremony for the Meninas 2024 awards will take place on Thursday, 21 November, at 6 p.m. at the Centro de la Cultura del Rioja in Logroño.
Recognitions 2024
The first Menina is awarded to the health professionals of Primary Care of La Rioja for becoming essential allies in the fight against gender violence, both in urban and rural areas. Thanks to their proximity and the trust they generate among patients, the medical and nursing staff of Primary Care are able to detect cases of male violence through screening in gender violence.
In addition, with the granting of this Menina, the Government Delegation in La Rioja intends to give visibility to this health personnel so that women victims and society in general know that they are trusted professionals in which to denounce male violence.
The second Menina is awarded to Daniel Jesús Caro Hernáez, who began in May 2008 in the Coexistence Unit of the Local Police of Logroño as an officer, highlighting for his hard collaboration for the implementation and consolidation of the same.
Caro Hernáez has always been part of this Coexistence Unit as a local police, being an example of commitment to its work and for a great sensitivity and full dedication in the care of the victims of male violence.
The third and final award is given to Pilar Ruiz Rodríguez, founder and president of the Spanish Association of Forensic Social Workers. The Government Delegation in La Rioja considers that it deserves this Menina because of its professional trajectory, promoting a profession that is fundamental in the courts of gender violence.
Throughout her career, Pilar Ruiz Rodríguez has maintained a firm commitment in professional development towards victims of gender violence and minors.
