The Government announces grants worth more than 1 million euros for Balears for the temporary Juliette
The Ministry of Territorial Policy has called for grants worth more than 1 million euros for the repair of damage caused in the Balearic Islands by the storm Juliette last February. The BOE publishes this Wednesday the call for financial aid for damage to municipal infrastructures and provincial and island road networks, which were foreseen in the agreement of the Council of Ministers of 20 June 2023 for areas seriously affected by a civil protection emergency, as a result of the different events (forest fires, storms, snowfall and torrential rains) that occurred throughout the country between 20 August 2022 and 8 June.
In the case of Balears, the recovery works have an estimated cost of 2,392,629.97 euros, of which 1,593,865.38 euros correspond to the Island Council of Mallorca and the rest, to municipalities such as Artà and Escorca, among others. The government will subsidise up to 50% of these projects. The entities have a deadline until October 5 to submit the applications.
The call package allocates a maximum total amount of 11,822,417.17 euros to be distributed among the communities of Andalusia, Aragon, Principality of Asturias, Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Comunitat Valenciana, Extremadura, Galicia, Illes Balears, Region of Murcia, Autonomous Community of Navarre, Basque Country and the city of Ceuta.
In the case of those affected localities that have not declared damages, they can submit their applications on the occasion of the call and will receive funding if they meet the eligibility requirements.
