The deadline for cabildos and island consells from the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands to present their digitization projects is extended until July 14
The Official State Gazette (BOE) today publishes the order extending the deadline for submitting applications to receive grants for the digital transformation and modernization of the island councils of the Balearic Islands and the island councils of the Canary Islands, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), until July 14.
Thus, the Order published on March 23, which established May 17 as the final deadline, is modified, extending that deadline by almost two months, due to the technical complexity of the modernization and digitization projects and granting more time for its presentation to the administrations of the island councils and consells of the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.
This order is in accordance with the principles of good regulation, such as the principles of necessity, effectiveness, proportionality, legal certainty, transparency and efficiency, provided for in article 129 of Law 39/2015, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
8 million euros for the digitalization of cabildos and consells
The BOE of March 23 published the call, by which four consells and seven island cabilos can request up to 8 million euros for their projects, within the framework of the aid intended for modernization and digitalization of local entities promoted by the Ministry of Territorial Policy within PRTR.
The beneficiaries of this specific call are the cabildos of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, Lanzarote, La Gomera, Fuerteventura and El Hierro and the consells of Formentera, Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca. In the case of the former, they will be able to submit projects worth more than 5 million euros. In the case of the consells of the Balearic Islands, they will be able to submit projects in an amount close to 3 million euros.
Thanks to these funds, lobbyists and consells will be able to improve the accessibility of digital public services, reduce the digital divide, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public employees and use emerging technologies in the deployment of new digital services through chatbots, robotization or platforms. The budget allocation for each entity has been carried out according to a proportional criterion according to the population of each council and council, which now have until July 14 to present their digitization projects.
