The Government allocates more than 6.9 million euros to the Balearic Islands to fight against all forms of male violence
The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday, at the proposal of the Ministry of Equality, the distribution of 6,942,806.59 euros to the Balearic Islands to fight against all forms of male violence. This investment will be submitted to the Sectoral Conference on Equality for final approval.
In total, the autonomous communities and cities will receive more than 177 million euros in policies to combat male violence. Among the funds granted, 79% correspond to the State Pact against Gender Violence (140.2 million), 11% to the Funds of the Government Delegation against Gender Violence (19.8 million) and the remaining 10% to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (17 million).
State Pact against Gender Violence
Illes Balears will receive 5,776,958.36 euros from the State Pact against Gender Violence, which consolidates public funding, stable, sufficient and adequate to support actions aimed at preventing violence against women in all its forms.
In total, the Government allocates more than 140 million euros to the autonomous communities and cities within the framework of the State Pact against Gender Violence, which means an increase of 40.2% in the allocation of funds transferred to the autonomies compared to the previous year.
Government Delegation Funds Against Gender Violence
In turn, the Government Delegation against Gender Violence will finance the implementation and development of four types of programs in the Balearic Islands, based on the following distribution:
· 298,743.80 euros of the total investment of 8.5 million euros for comprehensive social assistance programs for victims of gender violence.
· 61,591.64 euros from the total investment of one million euros destined to Programs for the implementation of personalized plans.
· 387,863.86 euros of the total investment of 9.5 million euros for support programs for victims of sexual assault and/or abuse.
· 17,922.54 euros from the total investment of 800,000 euros for Programs for the prevention of sexual abuse in minors under guardianship.
Comprehensive care centers 24 hours
In addition, Illes Balears will receive 399,726.39 euros from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to extend and make accessible comprehensive care services to all potential victims of all forms of violence against women.
These funds will promote the creation of 24-hour comprehensive assistance centers for victims of sexual violence in all provinces, Ceuta and Melilla; at least with a comprehensive care center for victims of sexual violence operating in each province and autonomous city (52 centers throughout Spain) as of December 31, 2023.
In total, the autonomous communities and cities will receive more than 17 million euros from European funds, with a triple objective focused on ensuring safe accommodation for all victims of trafficking who are in Spanish territory:
- To guarantee victims of trafficking safe and urgent accommodation, available and accessible 24 hours a day.
- To guarantee victims of trafficking a housing resource for their social integration in the medium term.
- To ensure that victims of trafficking under the age of 18 are provided with safe and adequate accommodation for their needs.
For each of the 50 provinces of the Spanish geography, the provision of emergency accommodation, long-term accommodation and accommodation for underage victims is committed.
36% more funds against male violence
With the approval of these funds, which will finance policies that cover all forms of violence against women, as established by the Istanbul Convention and, especially, after the approval of the Organic Law on the Comprehensive Guarantee of Sexual Freedom, the annual regular budget for the fight against male violence is increased by 36%. Throughout the legislature, the available resources have been multiplied by almost three.
In addition, this territorial distribution will mean an increase in the number of users of victim care services. Therefore, these services will have new care itineraries.
