The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, presided this morning at the doors of the Delegation a minute of silence for the crime of Mercedes, a 78-year-old woman murdered by her partner in Navarre, in which he took advantage to defend that from the Government of Spain, “we do believe that public policies and measures against male violence work and save lives.”
“Today, with this minute of silence, we reaffirm and make visible our commitment,” he added, stressing that it is not enough to condemn male violence, but that action is needed every day to eradicate it. In addition, he assured that “from the Government we are going to put all the resources at our disposal of the institutions so as not to fail women.” “The administrations have a key role in this fight, in the Government we are clear and we will not stop,” he said.
In the minute of silence, the Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, also participated.
