The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, today highlighted the decline in crime experienced in recent times in the municipality of Maceda, since the decrease in the number of crimes was greater than 13% from the year 2023 to 2024 and in the first half of 2025 continued the decline in a remarkable way.
This was revealed by the data known this Wednesday at the Local Security Board chaired by Eladio Santos and by the mayor of Maceda, Uxía Oviedo. Also participating in the meeting were the head of the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation, Alida Iglesias; the territorial director of the Presidency, Justice and Sports, Beatriz Fernández; representatives of the Supramunicipal Emergency Group (GES) of Maceda, and members of Medio Rural, as well as agents of the Civil Guard and the Local Police of the municipality.
After reviewing the evolution of the figures of registered infractions, the Government subdelegate congratulated the Security Forces and Corps present for their "intense work".
"This good data is the result of the professionalism, dedication and excellent collaboration between the Local Police and the Civil Guard, thanks to which the neighbors of Maceda live in a safe place," he said.
Such coordination, added Santos, "is especially important to combat male violence," since Maceda is part of the Comprehensive Monitoring System in Cases of Gender Violence (VioGén). No municipality there are two active cases, of the 573 in the province of Ourense, so the subdelegate warned that "you cannot lower your guard in the fight against this scourge, because there is violence against women on a daily basis and the involvement of all administrations is necessary".
Master plan
Respect for the Master Plan for coexistence and improvement of security in schools and their environments, during the 2024/25 academic year the Civil Guard gave four talks at the IES San Mamede (two on new technologies and two on data protection), which were attended by 120 students and 8 teachers. With respect, the subdelegate stressed the need for parents and guardians to get involved in these talks to know the risks to which their children are exposed.
