The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, traveled to Corcubión to visit the works of integral remodelling of the headquarters of the Civil Guard, an action promoted by the Government of Spain with an investment of 2,575,360.59 euros, financed with an aid from the European funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
During the visit, Rivas stressed that this is a “fundamental action to modernize police facilities and adapt them to the current needs of an essential public service such as the Civil Guard”. The works in progress include structural improvements, energy efficiency, universal accessibility, updating of communication networks and new operating and administrative spaces.
“The objective is clear: to dignify the daily work of the agents and offer the citizens facilities according to their right to quality care,” stressed the subdelegate, who also recalled that this action is part of a plan of investments in security infrastructures in Galicia, financed with European funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which exceeds 10 million euros; to which is added the construction of a new headquarters in Santiago de Compostela, with a budget of 14 million euros, within the Infrastructure Plan for State Security.
Rivas highlighted the role of the Civil Guard “for its closeness, professionalism and dedication to public service, especially in a region like this” and pointed out that the refurbished barracks will strengthen the link of the institution with the territory and with the neighborhood.
Finally, the deputy delegate reiterated that “from the Government of Spain we will continue to invest in people and security, because we understand that they are fundamental bases of a more just, cohesive and egalitarian country.” Rivas recalled that “not only is there investment in the improvement of the staffing, with the recent incorporation of 55 new troops throughout the province (3 of them in the Corcubión post), but also work on the improvement of facilities such as the headquarters of this locality that, presenting significant deficiencies, is being converted into a modern, functional and energy-efficient headquarters.”
During the visit, the deputy delegate was accompanied by the mayor, Francisco Javier Domínguez; the mayor of Fisterra, Áurea Domínguez; councillors of Cee, and the Colonel head of the Civil Guard Command of the province of A Coruña, Fernando Pedreira.
