The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, called on entrepreneurs to continue working together to make Galicia stronger, innovative and cohesive.
He did so during the closing of the business forum “O Encontro” on the Island of A Toxa, where he called for collaboration between administrations and the business fabric as a key element “to build a modern, fair and competitive Galicia”. The president of CESUGA, Venancio Salcines; the director of "O Encontro", Juan Martín Rodríguez; the president of the Provincial Council of Lugo, José Tomé, and the Territorial Director in Galicia of Banco Santander, Rocío Pazos, did not participate.
The delegate valued spaces such as those of the meeting itself, “open and plural, where the ideas of entrepreneurs and businesswomen are heard and joint proposals are built”. In that sense, he said that “active listening, shared reflection and collective commitment are the best ingredients for a solid country project”. And precisely for that reason, Pedro Blanco highlighted the role of the Government, which thanks to its philosophy of “rowing together” is creating a Galicia source of employment and wealth from the hand of companies, “to continue leading the economy in Europe and underpinning social justice”.
Pedro Blanco highlighted the performance of the Spanish Government in boosting the Galician economic fabric through the Recovery Plan, with a real impact on strategic sectors such as the automotive, agri-food, naval or energy sectors. “In Galicia, more than 4,000 million euros were already mobilized, and of that total, 83% arrived directly to companies,” he said, emphasizing that “without all of you, the future of Galicia would not be possible and the Government knew well, that is why it bets on entrepreneurs, and that is why it strengthens the community through real investments.”
The delegate defended the need to continue moving towards a sustainable, digital and more territorially cohesive economy. “We want to continue creating jobs, generating wealth and dynamizing the territory. We want to continue improving people’s lives, and that is our commitment to what remains of the legislature,” he stressed.
José García Costas, Galician Businessman of the Year Award 2025
The delegate thanked the work of José García Costas, the winner of the Galician Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2025. “It’s a true example of what it means to dream and to do. A man who made his work a tool of progress for Vigo and for the whole of Galicia” highlighting, in addition, his role at the head of the Chamber of Commerce of Vigo, “building bridges, promoting projects and accompanying the numerous companies in key moments”.
