The deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, today congratulated the National Police for its commitment to solidarity and sport, "a binomial with which the whole society wins". He did so before inaugurating the solidarity race Ruta 091, together with the provincial commissioner head of the National Police, Juan Cástor Vázquez.
"It is an immense satisfaction to accompany you in this second edition of Route 091 in Ourense, a race of solidarity that demonstrates, once again, that closeness, health and social inclusion are priorities for the National Police," said Eladio Santos before cutting the ribbon that inaugurated the initiative, in the Glorieta of the National Police, where the starting point and the goal were located.
The absolute race, the adult race, began at 9:30 am with a route of 5 kilometers. Then it was the turn of the children's and inclusive race, at 10:45 hours. In total, about 800 people participated, who were able to enjoy after the award ceremony of a police media exhibition. All the funds raised were for the Ourense association Trascos, which works on behalf of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The Government's deputy delegate welcomed the contribution to "a particularly significant cause", as Trascos "plays an essential role in supporting people with ASD and their families." "When physical effort is put at the service of a social cause, we all win: we promote healthy habits, strengthen community ties and move towards a more aware and committed citizenship," he said.
In this regard, Santos highlighted the Executive’s commitment to people with ASD. "The central government is implementing the Spanish Strategy on Autism Spectrum Disorder which, with an allocation of 40 million euros, pursues the objectives of promoting job inclusion, improving early care and promoting research, among others," he explained.
