The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, reaffirms the commitment of the Government of Spain to the fishing sector, the business fabric and the autonomous and autonomous sectors that support and promote the economy of the sea in the Ría de Arousa and throughout Galicia.
He did so during the Foromar 2025 Congress that was held in Vilagarcía de Arousa and which was also attended by the president of the Union of Professionals and Self-Employed Workers (UPTA), Eduardo Abad; the director of the Social Institute of the Navy (ISM), Elena Martínez and the mayor of Vilagarcía de Arousa, Alberto Varela.
During his speech, the delegate pointed out the strategic importance of the region, which is not only a privileged landscape enclave but also constitutes an engine of employment, innovation and sustainability. “The Arousa estuary is not on the periphery, it is at the center of the blue economy of the country,” added Blanco, highlighting the support of the Government of Spain with the fishing sector through measures promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, led by Luis Planas. “Measures that result in the modernization of the Galician fleet, in the improvement of energy efficiency, advances in maritime safety or in policies aimed at promoting generational relief,” the delegate listed.
In this regard, Pedro Blanco stressed the need to facilitate access to the fishing sector for young people through specialized training and with the promotion of new job opportunities because “there is no future for the sea, nor is there a future for many Galician towns”, said Blanco, who recalled the modernization tools promoted by the Government of Spain with which the autonomous and autonomous and small companies in the mar-industry field can benefit and grow.
“We talk about the Digital Kit, which allowed thousands of entrepreneurs to advance in their digitalization and competitiveness, the impulse of the PERTE, dedicated to the Mar-Industry chain and with which it is expected that of the total investment, amounting to 20 million euros, half will go to the Galician companies of the canning sector,” explained the delegate.
He also stressed that “modernization is not a luxury, it is a guarantee of the future for our companies and for the Galicians and Galicians” referring to the Government’s commitment to a sustainable economic model, rooted in the territory and respectful of nature.
The delegate took the opportunity to congratulate and thank the daily effort of the autonomous people, conserveras and distributors who, with their work, make it possible for the Galician fishing sector and the Arousa estuary to remain a great beacon of progress for Galicia and, as a consequence, for Spain.
