The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, stressed today in Antas de Ulla the government's support for small rural concellos, actively collaborating with projects that improve people's lives and fight against territorial abandonment. He said this after meeting with the mayor of Antas de Ulla, Pilar García Porto, to take stock of the state investments in this city and get to know first-hand new needs and proposals.
Pedro Blanco highlighted the Government’s effort to extend public policies throughout the territory and put the resources of the State at the service of the smallest concellos, such as Antas de Ulla. He also stressed the commitment of the mayor to promote the development of her municipality, attracting funds in different calls and working in a coordinated way with the ministries.
“Pilar García Porto is an example of good local management and how collaboration between administrations translates into services and opportunities for the neighborhood,” said the delegate. The meeting made it possible to review the projects under way and to open up new avenues of cooperation.
“We have at hand to continue collaborating,” said Blanco, who also valued the symbolism of concellos such as this: “What is done here serves as a model for promoting territorial cohesion and well-being in rural areas.”
Government investments in Antas de Ulla
Antas de Ulla received more than 1 million euros from the Government through various programs and funds, among them the reform of the House of Culture with a contribution of 810,000 euros from the PIREP Program to improve energy efficiency and spaces for local cultural associations, the renewal of public lighting with 241,412 euros from the IDAE for an energy efficiency project, the extension of broadband through the UNIQUE Program that brings high-speed optical fiber to 385 homes and companies of the city, or the funds of the State Pact against Gender Violence for prevention and awareness actions, which awarded this year 1,851.95 euros.
In addition, the council also received programs such as that of the Tax Agency to facilitate that people over 65 years old can make the declaration of income in the town hall itself through video chat, contributing to reduce the digital divide and improve access to the administration.
