The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, received this morning the student winner of the last edition of the Cyberleague, the cybersecurity contest promoted by the Civil Guard at the national level. As part of his prize, the student performed a sea baptism on board one of the ships of the Provincial Maritime Service of the Civil Guard.
“These kinds of initiatives are essential to raise awareness among young people about the risks and opportunities of the digital world. It is a pride to have such a well-prepared and involved generation,” said Rivas.
The students came from the IES Isaac Díaz Pardo (Sada), the IES Alfredo Brañas (Carballo) and the IES Plurilingue San Rosendo (Mondoñedo), and were accompanied by their teachers. Already in the month of January they had been recognized with an accrediting diploma and a trophy for their excellent performance.
The Cyberleague combines training and competition through a cyber-challenge, with the aim of promoting a safe and responsible use of new technologies among young people. In the edition held in Galicia participated 1,400 students of 4th ESO belonging to 51 centers of the four provinces. The competition had an initial phase of online training and a practical test in which the teams tested the acquired knowledge.
During the reception, the subdelegate took the opportunity to highlight “the commitment and involvement of the men and women of the Civil Guard” in this educational project and encouraged the Galician educational centers to continue participating.
