The subdelegate in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, participated this Friday in the act of delivery of the cards of “Cyberexpert@” in the CEIP Las Gándaras, accompanied by the National Police trainer Rubén Darío Veiga. A total of 50 students from 6th grade receive this recognition after completing the program.
This award ceremony served to take stock of the 2024-25 academic year, in which 450 schoolchildren from Lugo received training in cybersecurity thanks to the Cyberexpert@ program, developed by the National Police in collaboration with the Government Subdelegation. The initiative reached the ten centers of the city: CEIP Las Gándaras, CPR Salesianos, CPR Lana Inmaculada, CEIP Paradai, CPR Franciscans, CEIP A Ponte, CPR Cervantes, CEIP Sacred Heart, CEIP Albeiros and CPR Divina Maestro.
“The digital security of children and youth is a collective challenge, and from the Government of Spain we bet on training the new generations in the safe use of the Internet and social networks,” said Isabel Rodríguez, who thanked the commitment of the participating centers and the team of the National Police that developed the program.
Throughout four sessions in each group, the agents worked with the students on issues such as safe browsing, online and offline privacy management, responsible use of social networks and prevention against the risks of Relationship, Information and Communication Technologies (TRIC).
“This program demonstrates that prevention and training are the best tools to protect children in the digital environment,” said the deputy delegate. “Families, teachers and, above all, students share their interest in continuing to learn about cybersecurity. That response is the best motivation to continue with this initiative next year,” he added.
Today’s day closes a course in which education in digital values and #digital competition played a leading role in Portuguese classrooms, together with an initiative that seeks to give children tools in the face of the challenges of the digital world.
