The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, stressed this Sunday that the specialization of the Civil Guard units is "an essential pillar" in the effective response to complex situations, "since it provides irreplaceable technical knowledge", as demonstrated in the dynamic exercise organized by the Ourense Command in the Carrefour shopping center of Barbadás.
The coordination exercise, which simulated an attack, involved the participation of the following Civil Guard units: Traffic Grouping, Citizen Security, USECIC, GEDEX, UCE explosives detector, Air Unit, GRS number 7, UOPJ and the Command Information Group (GIC). The Local Police of Barbadás, the Sanitary Urgencies of Galicia 061 and forensic doctors and judicial authorities also collaborated.
"Today we are witnessing an exercise of enormous operational and symbolic value, which demonstrates the commitment of our institutions to security and preparedness in situations of real risk," said Eladio Santos after witnessing the simulation, which consisted of an attack perpetrated by three individuals with firearms and white weapons.
In this regard, he stressed that it is as important to specialization as coordination. "Only through fluid and planned collaboration between the different Civil Guard units and also between the different security forces and emergency services can we deal with serious threats, such as those of a terrorist nature, quickly and professionally," he said.
With respect, the Deputy Delegate of the Government in Ourense congratulated the Lieutenant Colonel Chief of the Civil Guard of Ourense, Rafael Berguillo, for organizing such an essential exercise. "The Ourense Command demonstrates once again its professionalism and its commitment to the citizenship it protects in 91 municipalities in the province," he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Barbadás Local Police, the judicial authorities and the Health Emergency Team-061. "Their participation was indispensable to give realism and effectiveness to the exercise, demonstrating once again that security is a collective task," he said.
