The deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated this morning in a simulation of forest fire in Rianxo to ensure an effective and coordinated response in case of this event. Today, Rianxo hosted the forest fire drill in which the Government’s subdelegate, together with the main emergency bodies, participated actively in a strategic exercise to prevent and respond to forest fires.
The exercise, designed to reproduce the conditions of a real fire, served as a key tool to evaluate and improve the protocols of action and coordination between the different agencies involved.
María Rivas stressed that “these simulations are fundamental to ensure that all human and technical means are prepared to act effectively and quickly in the face of a real fire”. “Especially on a day like today that we celebrate World Environment Day. It seems to me a very appropriate date because we try to minimize the impact of these emergencies in both the human and the natural environment,” he added.
He also stressed the importance of citizen collaboration and planning. “Social collaboration, along with a strong and well-coordinated institutional response, is the key to dealing with this type of emergency with guarantees,” he said.
Finally, he expressed his wish that “this summer we do not have to regret any forest fires and that joint work and prevention remain our best weapons in the face of the fire.”
