Eladio Santos, the government’s deputy delegate in Ourense, stressed on Monday that the government’s commitment to rural areas allows “great initiatives that generate employment and attract visitors.” It did so in the presentation of the Terras do Bolo tourism brand, within the framework of the Develop O Bolo project, financed through the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge line for local entities, in order to combat depopulation.
Accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Alberto Vázquez, at the event held in the Castelo de O Bolo, the subdelegate celebrated that the plan of the City of O Bolo will continue in this year and in the following year with the constitution of a Technical Office of Sustainable Tourism, which will involve the incorporation of specialized guides and a very professionalized tourism offer. "It was born with a clear vocation: to improve, coordinate and make known the tourist potential grain of this municipality under a common and strong identity," he stressed.
In this regard, Santos reiterated that this project "is a clear example of the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to the rural, with its present and, above all, with its future". "We are committed to initiatives such as this, which not only value the natural, cultural and human heritage of our villas, but also generate real opportunities for economic and social development," he said.
The subdelegate explained that the tourism brand Terras de O Bolo is part of the Develop O Bolo project, which includes housing and project offices, and that it has a budget 70,000 euros from the call for grants from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge to promote innovative actions of territorial dynamization and combat depopulation. "This grant was granted in 2023, but the government's effort does not stop there, because this year O Bolo received another 180,000 euros of aid from the same Ministry for sustainable municipal initiatives, which will allow tourism plans to continue," he said.
With respect, Eladio Santos maintained that this aid proves that the central executive reaches the entire territory, "even the areas forgotten by other administrations." "The City Council and the Government are working to make the future of this territory prosperous, dynamic and sustainable," he said.
