The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted today the government’s commitment to the energy and ecological transition, which in recent years leaves 124 million euros in aid to 51 business, energy and municipal projects, with 427 new jobs created in the areas of just transition in Galicia. This was affirmed in a visit to the Tepsa facilities, accompanied by the Government’s Deputy Delegate in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez; the Mayor of Muras, Manuel Requeijo; the agent of the territory of the ITJ in Galicia, Nuria Álvarez; the Director General of Tepsa, Eduardo Serrano; and the President of the Plastics Ferro Business Group, José Marcial Doctor López de Pablos. The visit is part of the follow-up of the projects supported by the Fair Transition Agreements of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
The delegate highlighted the pioneering role of this company in the manufacture of reusable plastic packaging and its commitment to sustainability and the circular economy, highlighting the commitment to “innovation and the future” to consolidate itself as a company “leader in the sector in Spain and a European reference in its own technology”. During the visit, Blanco saw at first hand the positive impact of the project to modernize the TEPSA plant, an action that had an aid of 112,486 euros, associated with an investment of about 375,000 euros, and allowed the creation of four new jobs.
The delegate also announced that this week will be published the final resolution of a new line of the Recovery Plan, corresponding to environmental, social and digital infrastructure projects, which will benefit Galicia with two new awards: one in As Pontes and another in A Laracha, with a total investment of almost 3 million euros.
“The government is clear that the ecological transition must be a real opportunity for the territories that for decades supported the country’s energy development,” said Pedro Blanco, who stressed that “there is no fair transition without innovation, without industry and without commitment to the environment, as TEPSA demonstrates here in Muras.”
TEPSA: innovation from the heart of rural Galicia
Fishing Packaging Technique (TEPSA) is a company based in Muras specialized in the manufacture of reusable plastic packaging for the food sector, belonging to the Ferro Plastics Group. Its most recent project, supported by the Government with a grant of 112,486 euros, is focused on the modernization of the recycling and remanufacturing plant of plastics, developing a closed circuit to recover and reintroduce as raw material the containers that cannot be reused.
The action, aligned with the principles of the circular economy, included the construction of a nave annexed to the current one, which has two naves on both sides for offices and services, thus leaving a set of buildings. The new establishment is dedicated to the process of recycling and remanufacturing plastic containers, as well as subsequent storage and shipment. In addition to the incorporation of advanced technology, four jobs were created.
