The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, puts the new posts of updating the documentation of the National Police as an example of the effort of the Government to bring the Administration closer to the citizens. He did so during the inauguration of the PAD in the concello de Sada attended by the mayor of the municipality, Benito Portela, as well as by the Provincial Commissioner, Carlos Gómez.
The PADs are a device provided with a touch screen and a keyboard from which the neighborhood can carry out different basic tasks and with which it is intended to bring the administration closer to the citizens and provide a service of competence of the National Police in the nuclei in which no police facilities are found. The subdelegate stressed the importance of installing these devices in the Galician countryside “that represent progress for citizens, facilitating basic procedures such as updating digital certificates, renewing electronic ID data without having to go to the documentation offices or changing passwords.”
From today, in addition to Sada, another six PADs are activated in six concellos of the province: Cee, Melide, Noia, As Pontes, Rianxo and Vimianzo, providing these municipalities with the relevant equipment and joining that of Ordes whose PAD was launched weeks ago. Thus adding a total of 8 PADs in the province and 27 in the entire Galician community. “These facilities will make life easier not only for the neighbors and neighbors of the concello where it is installed, but also for the neighborhood of nearby municipalities. In this way, we expanded access to this essential service, bringing it closer to all the rural population that previously had to travel to carry out these procedures.”
The National Police is in charge of implementing, together with the VIDOCS, these terminals in the different localities of the province as well as in several Galician strategic points “facilitating digital procedures to citizens,” explained Rivas.
Digitization
The project, funded by the European Union through the Next Generation Funds Recovery Plan, is part of the Public Administration’s digitization strategy, within the framework of the agreement signed between the Ministry of the Interior and the National Currency and Stamp Factory.
Rivas pointed out the commitment and joint work between the National Police and the other administrations, “turning these projects so fundamental for the rural population into a reality. Making their lives a little simpler and providing them with the same facilities as the neighborhood that resides in the urban centers. In short: strengthening the commitment and turning the administration into a more accessible, agile and secure one, adapted to the current needs of society”.
Other performances
The installation of these devices outside the police stations is complemented by other actions carried out by the Government, such as the program ‘A Administración Cerca de Ti’, in which officials of the Delegation and the Subdelegation help the population to obtain the digital certificate and give an account of all the services they can access, taking advantage of these days to accompany them in these processes.
In this same vein, the subdelegate also highlighted other measures such as mobile units for the issuance of the DNI; advice for the Income campaign in the municipalities, or the travelling suitcase against gender violence, “all of them services designed to improve the lives of the inhabitants of the province, who will also be able to access them from anywhere thanks to the Government’s plans for broadband extension and connectivity to 5G networks,” she said.
