The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, highlighted the importance of promoting the responsible use of new technologies through initiatives such as that of cyber experts. He did so during the ceremony of handing over the above-mentioned cards to the 125 students of three Corunnese schools: IES Manuel Murguía, CEIP Salado Torres and CEIP Ramón de lana Sagra.
“Initiatives like this are key to the training of minors on the web, giving them tools and giving them a positive vision in the safe and responsible use of the Internet and visualizing through real examples the risks and problems that can be found in the network,” explained the subdelegate during her speech.
The students were accredited with this badge after overcoming the training activities in cybersecurity included in the Master Plan and taught by the National Police for coexistence and improvement of security in educational centers. “The key to this program has three fundamental objectives: to sensitize, raise awareness and train students, both on the risks and on the tools available to them to protect themselves against these dangers,” explained Rivas.
In this regard, the deputy delegate congratulated the joint work between the centres and the National Police, which is responsible for giving the various talks to boys and girls. He also addressed the students and applauded their involvement in this activity. “Your participation and interest helps to create a safer educational community that is more aware of the challenges of the digital world.”
Training Program Cyberexpert@s
This programme is included in the Master Plan, an initiative of the Ministry of the Interior that seeks to anticipate any risk that affects the safety and well-being of children, both at school and in their environment.
The Ciberexpert@s program includes various activities in which students learn to navigate safely on social networks. The National Police is responsible for training them in the areas of cyberbullying, grooming, identity theft or technoaddiction, among others. In short: they explain how to minimize the risks with which they are in the daily use of Information and Communication Technologies.
In addition, activities aimed at their family environment are also in vain, providing them with tools to make responsible use of social networks and safe navigation through the Internet. Once the students pass a final test, they receive the cards of cyberexperts printed in the Currency and Stamp Factory and, therefore, impossible to falsify.
