Eladio Santos, deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, highlighted on Thursday "the important improvements in the labor and social inclusion" of immigrants that will implement the new Regulation on Foreigners, which will enter into force on May 20. He did so during the inauguration of the informative day "New Regulation of Foreigners and presentation of the Office", held at the Public Library of Ourense We.
The conference, given by the head of the Office of Foreigners of the Government Subdelegation in Ourense, Josefina Rodríguez Durán, brought together more than 70 people. Among the attendees stand out lawyers, social workers, members of non-profit entities, representatives of municipalities and the Xunta and agents of the State Security Forces and Corps.
The subdelegate explained that the reform aims to adapt the regulations to the current migratory situation. "It seeks to respond to the needs of immigrants, to the demographic situation of our province and to the current labor market," he said.
In this sense, he valued the enrichment that comes from the spirit of the norm. "While other administrations propose expulsion, the Government of Spain is committed to a reception policy, which wants to make life simple for those people who come to work in this country," Santos said.
In addition, the deputy delegate recalled that the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory activated a comprehensive response to face the workload that the Offices of Foreigners will assume. The plan will incorporate 750 people into the Delegations and Subdelegations of the Government of Spain, "an unprecedented endowment".
921 solved requests
Eladio Santos reported that the Office of Foreigners of the Government Subdelegation in Ourense met 921 requests in the first quarter of this year and resolved 100% of the files in due course. "This demonstrates the magnificent work done by the workers of the Office and the commitment of the Government of Spain to expedite the inclusion of people," he said.
