The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, stressed this morning in Santiago de Compostela that the Government of Spain “does not conform” and works to create more and better quality employment. Pedro Blanco participated in the inauguration of the 13th National Congress of the trade union Comisión Obreras de Galicia, which took place in the Galician capital.
In his speech, the delegate highlighted the following challenges that the Government has ahead in its path to continue improving people’s lives. The most immediate is the reduction of working hours, on which the Government has just approved the bill for the hourly reduction of working hours until 37.5 hours. “It is a new achievement with which we want to improve the reconciliation between personal and professional life, contributing, in this way, to improve the quality of life of workers,” said Pedro Blanco.
The delegate put in value the government’s action during the crisis of the COVID pandemic, when he developed a social shield “to leave no one behind, always making politics on the side of workers.” In this regard, he recalled the numerous examples of the Government ' s work: “The sustained increase in the Interprofessional Minimum Wage, improving the lives of thousands of Galicians and Galicians; the revaluation of pensions, guaranteeing the purchasing power of our seniors, or labor reform, consolidating quality employment. Thanks to this momentum, Galicia is now stronger and more cohesive and Spain is Europe’s economic locomotive”.
Continuing in the line of employment, Pedro Blanco stressed the commitment of the Government to social justice, by betting on work as one of the main pillars of its policies and always keeping social agents, such as trade unions, at hand. Therefore, the delegate recalled that this Government wants to continue moving towards improving the quality of life of citizens: “We are not satisfied because we want a more egalitarian and diverse country model.”
He concluded his speech by encouraging the workers who make up CCOO, “to continue defending a fairer society, with quality public services and without ceasing to expand rights.” He thanked them for their work and reminded them that they can count on the Government of Spain to continue achieving more rights.
