The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today advocated to coordinate actions to stop the misuse of technology and fight against new forms of sexual exploitation of women during a day organized by Diaconía with the support of the Ministry of Social Security Inclusion and Migration, and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
Isabel Rodríguez warned on the occasion of the session, entitled ‘Only Fans, new technologies used for sexual exploitation’, that beyond specific vulnerability profiles, by age or socioeconomic situation, the common denominator is the structural inequality of gender before a new form of male exploitation protected by the anonymity of the Internet.
The subdelegate pointed out that 97% of the content of this platform is of women, increasingly new, and the role of men who capture them and manage their contents grows, according to a research funded by the Ministry of Equality and carried out by the Young Women Federation under the title ‘Onlyfans, a whitewashed space of the sex business’.
In addition, he recalled that the Cybersecurity Institute of Spain (INCIBE) has already warned of the danger of minors registering with OnlyFans before the risk of harassment and sexual abuse in digital environments.
“We cannot look the other way. We must face the reality and coordinate actions to stop a practice that is taught by women,” said the deputy delegate.
Isabel Rodríguez stressed that the Government of Spain works for an egalitarian and violence-free society and maintains a firm commitment against prostitution and trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, in line with the policies of the European Union and objective number 5 of the UN 2030 Agenda.
