Eladio Santos, deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, stressed on Monday "the growing success" of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments in the province of Ourense, with 7,186 participants in the first quarter of the 2024-25 academic year.
The provincial commission, chaired by the deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, was attended by the director of the High Inspection of Education area, Xosé Lois García; the captain of the Civil Guard Ramiro García; the inspector of Citizen Participation of the National Police José Antonio Armero; the inspector of Education Rubén Veloso; the head of the Violence against Women Unit of the Government Subdelegation, Alida Iglesias, and the general secretary of the Subdelegation, Manuel Arias.
In the throne room of the Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos celebrated that the participation of students in the talk program increased by 50% with respect to the first quarter of the previous year. There were 7,186 participants (6,754 students, 246 families and 186 teachers).
The number of centers that requested talks in the first three months of the course was 74. In the total of the year 2024 there were 147 centers, 85% of the schools in the province. During that exercise, they hosted 689 talks, with various topics: cybersecurity (127); addictions (96), violence against women (153) and bullying and cyberbullying in schools (322). Last year, 63 complementary activities and 171 classified in other activities were also carried out.
With respect to the first quarter of this academic year 2024-25, the National Police and the Civil Guard gave 214 lectures, of which 70 were on cybersecurity; 53 on cyberbullying; 31 on addictions; 25 on violence against women; 5 on the prevention of sexual crimes; one on human trafficking; 4 on hate crimes; 5 on data protection; 7 on the environment; 5 on road safety; and 8 on professional guidance.
The Government’s deputy delegate congratulated the State Security Forces and Corps and all the services involved for bringing safety, awareness and hazard prevention to schools throughout the province. The current challenge of the Master Plan, said the subdelegate, is to reach families, since it is essential that parents also participate in these conferences to know the dangers faced by their sons and daughters.
