The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today highlighted the “consolidated success” of the development of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environment in the province of Lugo, with 8,957 participants in the first quarter of 2025.
In the provincial commission participated the area director of High Inspection of Education, Xosé Lois García; the lieutenant colonel responsible for the plan in the Civil Guard and one of the trainers, Carlos Freire and Héctor Méndez respectively; the head of the Unit against Violence against Women, Marisa Castro; the general secretary of the Subdelegation, Víctor Fraga; the delegate of citizen participation of the National Police and a body trainer, Rubén Darío Veiga and Iván García, respectively; the territorial director of Education, Sagrora Sánchez.
Isabel Rodríguez chaired the analysis meeting of the program, in which 77% of the educational centers in the province – 147 out of 191 – already participated in the first three months of the year, which means an increase of 7.3% with respect to the same period last year, when 137 centers submitted applications.
The number of participants also increased by 36.6% with respect to the first quarter of last year. Between January and March of this year, 8,957 participants (7,910 students; 558 families; and 489 teachers) were registered, compared to 6,559 attendees in the same period of 2024 (5,589 students; 642 families; and 328 teachers).
Between January and March 2025, 277 activities were carried out in Portuguese centers, 125 developed by the National Police and 152 organized by the Civil Guard. Among other subjects, sessions were held on ICT and Cybersecurity (85); on bullying and cyberbullying in schools (52); or substance or game addiction (29). Violence against women, with 34 activities, or the prevention of sexual crimes, with 14, were another of the main themes of this quarter’s activities.
During 2024, there were 740 activities in 164 centers, with 27,875 participants. Of these, there are 188 that were on ICT and cybersecurity; 128 on addictions; 54 on violence against women; and 158 on bullying and cyberbullying in schools.
Isabel Rodríguez pointed out the benefits of the Master Plan to achieve awareness and training on the risks of new technologies, the management of privacy and security in social networks, and raise awareness about the importance of education on equality.
The subdelegate also thanked the State Security Forces and Corps for their involvement in training and for the interest shown by the educational community.
