The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, highlighted today that the new unemployment allowance for victims of gender violence is an example of the effort made by the Government of Spain on the road to comprehensive protection. This was stated at the opening of the training sessions given by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE): “New subsidy for victims of gender violence”, at the Ourense Somos Public Library.
The talk, which was directed by the provincial director of the SEPE in Ourense, María Míguez Aquino, brought together more than 50 attendees, among them lawyers, social workers, equality techniques of different municipalities, members of the State Security Forces and Bodies, personnel of the Xunta de Galicia and members of foundations and NGOs.
Santos thanked the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in Galicia, the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation in Ourense and its head, Alida Iglesias, as well as the SEPE, for their cooperation and their “tireless work” in search of equality. “It is fundamental to coordination between institutions to reach all victims,” he said.
The subdelegate stressed that the work of the Government of Spain against gender violence is manifested with “real tools that allow victims to return to their lives with dignity, security and autonomy.” “The Government demonstrates once again that its commitment to equality and the eradication of male violence is not a declaration of intent, but comes in the form of concrete public policies, with resources and “effective measures,” Santos stressed.
During the training sessions, the accreditation of the status of victim of gender violence before the SEPE was addressed, the accreditation form, the duration, the deadlines and the amount of the new subsidy for victims of gender violence approved by Royal Decree Law 2/2024, as well as the compatibility of this subsidy with regard to active income of insertion (RAI).
