The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today highlighted the will of the Government of Spain to bring to the territory benefits that represent “an opportunity to rearm” women victims of male violence, on the occasion of the inauguration of the day ‘New subsidy for victims of gender or sexual violence’ organized by the Subdelegation at the headquarters of the Tax Agency.
Isabel Rodríguez opened the day with the provincial director of the SEPE, Andrés Ibáñez, and the technique of the SEPE, Tania López, who made a narrative on the specific aspects of the service.
The talk addressed the accreditation of the status of victim of gender violence before the SEPE, the duration, the term and the amount of the new subsidy, among other issues.
“The financial support provided by the grant offers women victims of gender or sexual violence an opportunity to rearm in order to move forward and the security of feeling recognized and accompanied by the administration,” said the deputy delegate, taking advantage of the day to encourage them to denounce any type of violence against women.
The VioGén system registers 768 women victims of gender violence in the province of Lugo. This is a reality to which the Public Employment Service intends to provide tools to help support women economically in situations of special vulnerability, such as victims of gender or sexual violence.
Isabel Rodríguez affirmed that “acting as a State against gender or sexual violence is an essential commitment of the Government of Spain to make full progress in public policies that allow a transversal response to the needs of the victims.”
“It is about addressing the complexity of the problem from all areas: sociocultural, educational, health, legal and economic. The objective can be none other than to address complex situations to combat the various types of violence and discrimination against women,” he said to point out the importance of conferences such as this one, which seek to publicize progress in a key issue such as caring for victims, eradicating male violence and achieving real and effective equality between women and men, in line with objective 5 of the 2030 Strategy.
