The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the work shared by the Government of Spain and the road engineers to “continue transforming Galicia”. He did so at the presentation of the exhibition “Betancourt 1758-1824 and the beginnings of modern engineering in Europe”, promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, which can be enjoyed at the Pazo de María Pita, headquarters of the concello of A Coruña.
Pedro Blanco put in value the figure of Betancourt, whom he highlighted as “a pioneer who improved people’s lives by helping to weave this country through public works, modernizing the way to do them at a European level”. The delegate stressed that this innovative vision and its vocation of public service continue to move the Government of Spain: “it helped to improve Spain and the living conditions of its society, and we worked tirelessly to achieve that same goal.”
In this regard, he highlighted the work of the road engineers, “whose work weaves this country, being firm allies of the Government.” He highlighted the importance of his works, “such everyday elements as a bridge, a road or the railway tracks, works of enormous relevance, but which seem natural to the landscape”.
“You are synonymous with progress, improvement and territorial cohesion.” Pedro Blanco encouraged all Galicians to discover the figure of Betancourt and the work of road engineering through this exhibition and thanked the Ministry of Transport for bringing it closer to the city of A Coruña.
