The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, defended in Vigo the government’s commitment to “leave no one behind” in the face of the impact of tariffs in Galicia. He participated in the opening of the Regional Congress of the General Union of Workers (UGT) in Vigo, where he was accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada.
Pedro Blanco highlighted the Government’s action for the protection of the entire productive fabric, a field in which this week approved the first measures of the Government Response Plan, specific to each sector and endowed with more than 14 billion euros. “In this way, we continue to show that our defense of the different industries is total, because as President Sánchez said, ‘the time of the Salvese whoever can’ is over.”
These measures follow the positive impact of the social shield deployed by the Government of Spain to face the constant international crises that have occurred in recent years, with which employment and jobs were protected. “We now have a Government of Spain that assumes its responsibility, that uses all the resources of the State to protect and help the middle and working class and companies of our country,” said the delegate.
With these measures, the Government ensures the protection of all citizens and also businesses, ensuring the future of Spanish and Galician agriculture and industry.
In this sense, the Government comes from activating a network mechanism that will allow to maintain the staff and help the employees of the companies most affected by the changes in international trade until their activity recovers, in a similar way the ERTE acted during the pandemic.
The delegate claimed the action of the unions to achieve these objectives, “shared with the Government as it has a vocation to improve people’s lives.” In the current socio-political context, Pedro Blanco claimed the work of these organizations “to emerge stronger, with social commitment, protecting all Galicians and Galicians”.
