The Travelling Suitcase against Gender Violence began its tour in 2022 at the Pereiro de Aguiar Penitentiary Center, then continuing to travel through the various women’s information centers (CIMs) of the province and currently arriving at the municipal libraries of the Ourense municipalities. This initiative of the Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense seeks to bring together the reading on issues of feminism, empowerment and self-esteem; promote critical thinking; favor the reading of these texts by women in situations of vulnerability; and sensitize society in general.

They are books that roam through educational centers and NGOs in which this problem is treated from a human perspective, with testimonies of victims,” he said. To this end, 19 books arrived today to the NGO Values in the Travelling Suitcase, among which are the publication “Live to tell”, published by the Subdelegation and which collects 13 microstories of victims of gender and sexual violence.
NGO Values
The NGO Values launched in 2013 with the objective of providing assistance to people at risk of social exclusion and/or extreme vulnerability, among which are women victims of gender violence, minors, elderly and dependent, or the rural population.
Within its mission is to achieve a more just and egalitarian world, where all people can have the same possibilities. In this sense, in recognition of its fight against gender violence, the NGO Values received the Menina 2023 Prize, awarded by the Ministry of Equality, among other reasons, “for its support and advice to victims, for its commitment to achieve the integration of women in situations of exclusion and for its close collaboration with the Unit against Violence against Women of the Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense”.
It also receives financial support from the State Pact against Gender Violence, in order to finance its social interventions. Regarding the work of this NGO, the Government’s deputy delegate confessed to being “impressed with the support network that tends to the women victims of our province, with work dynamics in the field of education, for the real and social integration of families. It is a tool to fight against gender violence from below,” he concluded.
