The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, congratulated the educational community of the Multilingual CEIP of Outes for its commitment to the circular economy and care for the environment, which earned it the recognition of the Ministry of Education as one of the 10 most sustainable educational centers in Spain.
María Rivas took the opportunity to get to know the different programs that she has been developing in recent years in this area, together with the Center’s Board of Directors and ANPA. Thus, he had the opportunity to learn about initiatives such as the renaturalization of courtyards, the management of waste in snacks, environmental patrols or the ecological garden.
During the visit, which was also attended by the territorial delegate of the Xunta in A Coruña, Belén do Campo, the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable lifestyles among young people and raising awareness at an early age of the impact that human beings have on our environment.
In this regard, María Rivas pointed out that sustainability “is a goal shared by this Government, which makes respect for the environment a transversal axis of its policies”. He also stressed the fact that this recognition, the only one in Galicia, went to Outes, a town hall in which the Government, through the Biodiversity Foundation, is promoting the renaturalization of the Tins River and the recovery for citizens of its urban section, with an investment of more than 850,000 euros.
“These actions are called to improve our environment, our relationship with the environment in which we live and, ultimately, to improve people’s lives,” said Rivas, who encouraged the directive and the ANPA “to continue on that path, in which you are already a reference, so that many other centers can follow your steps.”
