The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, presided this morning in A Coruña the act of condemnation for the murder by vicarious violence of Murcia and the alleged machista crime of O Bolo, in Ourense, pending official confirmation by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, of the Ministry of Equality.
The delegate read the statement condemning these two sexist crimes. Josefa, a 76-year-old woman who was allegedly murdered by her partner on 6 April, is the first murder due to gender violence so far this year in Galicia, increasing to 7 the total number of women in 2025 throughout Spain. With the latter case, there are 1,301 total fatalities since 2003, when data began to be collected.
“Today, more than ever, we reaffirm our commitment to countering male terrorism. We won’t be beating until we end this scourge of our society. I repeat: we will not stop,” insisted the delegate.
Pedro Blanco expressed his solidarity with the family and the victims’ acquaintances and reiterated the Government’s commitment to continue working together with the other administrations and society in the elimination of any type of violence against women. The delegate took the opportunity to make an appeal to report, by calling 016, the free and confidential telephone number that leaves no trace on the invoice and that attends 24 hours a day.
