The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, and the head of the Unit of Violence on Women, Alida Iglesias, presented this morning at the CEIP Mestre Vide the book “Vive para contarlo”, an initiative that emerged from the Commission of follow-up of the victims of gender violence, which meets monthly in the Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense, and whose edition was in charge of the latter.
The publication is composed of 13 micro-stories of victims of gender and sexual violence, and 10 testimonies of people who share their professional life with victims of gender violence.
This presentation took place in the framework of a formative talk within the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and in their environments, which is taking throughout the classrooms and bringing to all young people in the province sessions by agents of the Civil Guard and the National Police to contribute to the prevention of criminal behavior, in order to avoid violent behavior, drug consumption, harassment, cyberbullying, gender violence, among others.
To contribute to this work of awareness, the students present visualized a video with fragments of the publication, asking them at the end to analyze the possible machista behaviors that they detected in the projection. In addition, a colloquium on gender violence was also held to resolve doubts, eliminate myths and encourage dialogue and reflection on this important topic.
During his speech, the subdelegate stressed to the little ones the importance of having a life based on respect and free of violence. At the end, Santos highlighted very positively the involvement of the students who, despite the young age, were very interested in the subject discussed. “Education is the key to achieving a future without violence against women,” she concluded.
