Pedro Blanco today exemplified in the strategy of tourism transformation of the Community of Municipalities of Barbanza-Arousa the commitment of the Government of Spain to the modernization of the tourism sector and destinations and which translates into almost 2.5 million euros of investment of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism in the projects of this Community.
It did so during the presentation of the results of the project ‘Traslatio Experimental. Route Mar de Arousa and Río Ulla”, which took place in the Pazo de Martelo, in Rianxo. In his speech, which closed the event, the delegate recalled that the Government of Spain has been working for five years on the modernization of the national tourism sector, through its own funds and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. And it counted in more than 200 million euros the investments of the Government in Galicia in this process, “betting on the modernization of tourism companies, and for a respectful, sustainable and digital tourism, which generates wealth and quality work in the territory.”
Of this investment, the delegate highlighted the one that finances the transformation of the tourist destinations of Galicia, “to make them attractive throughout the year, and to value all the resources of our country”. This task is done through the Tourist Sustainability Plans in Destinations, which, in the case of Galicia, act in 43 destinations with more than 100 million euros of funds approached by the Government of Spain, and in collaboration with the other administrations (Concellos, Diputación and Xunta de Galicia).
Mancomunidad del Barbanza-Arousa
The government delegate congratulated the manager of the Barbanza-Arousa Community and the four mayors of the councillors that make up this supramunicipal entity (Rianxo, A Pobra do Caramiñal, Ribeira and Boiro) for their ability to take advantage of the opportunities of the Recovery Plan and become “a magnificent example of the impact that this transformation program promoted by the Government of Spain is having in Galicia”. In this way, the Government of Spain “was always on the side” of this entity in its process of tourism modernization, from which it finances its two main projects with almost 2.5 million euros.
On the one hand, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism finances with 1.5 million euros the Tourism Sustainability Plan "Barbanza Arousa, Travel through the Flavors", which combines the tourist exploitation of the gastronomic potential of these carto municipalities with the recovery of the historical heritage.
Along with this plan, which is being implemented, the Ministry also finances the project ‘Traslatio Experimental’ with 976,000 euros. Route Mar de Arousa and Río Ulla”, which was presented today. This plan aims to enhance the Xacobea Mar Route of Arousa Río Ulla, guaranteeing tourism development and improving the tourist experience and the quality of life of the residents, and all that, making use of technology and innovation.
Today’s event, which was held in the Pazo del Martelo, in Rianxo, also included the participation of the Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña, María Rivas and the director of the Division of Tourism Programs and Economic Affairs of the Secretary of State for Tourism, José María Pérez.
