The deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, and the mayor of Barbadás, Xosé Carlos Valcárcel, co-chaired the Local Security Board in which the situation regarding citizen security in the municipality, cases of gender violence and the Master Plan were analyzed.
Regarding citizen security, the data provided by the Civil Guard show positive figures, since both minor and serious crimes show a 15% decrease in 2024 compared to the previous year. Therefore, the subdelegate was optimistic about this situation, noting that “of the 12 types of serious and less serious crimes in 8, the number of criminal acts was reduced and the number of clarifications increased. This data translates into greater security for the residents of Barbadás.”
As for the Master Plan, the talks in the schools of the municipality by the security forces to prevent criminal conduct are keeping pace and the students are showing great interest and participation.
On the contrary, in terms of gender violence, of the 512 cases active in the province today, 28 correspond to the City of Barbadás. 26 of them have a ban on approaching and communicating; one of the aggressors carries a Cometa device and five of the victims have the Atenpro service.
In addition to the deputy delegate and the mayor, representatives of the Xunta de Galicia, Civil Guard and Local Police of Barbadás were also present.
