The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, stressed the importance of a good financial education among young people so that in the future they can make the best decisions on the management of their money. It did so within the framework of a training day at the headquarters of the Bank of Spain of A Coruña on the occasion of the Global Money Week and in which students of the second year of the International Trade Cycle of the IES Menéndez Pidal Zalaeta of the city of Herculina participated.
María Rivas, who was accompanied by the director of the Bank of Spain in A Coruña, Javier Bernardo, and workers of the entity, took the opportunity to transfer the students of the institute of which she is a former student to the relevance of this training to recognize the emotional triggers that lead them to make decisions and to remain alert to the scams that proliferate in the network that directly attack personal finances.
“The aim of this initiative, supported by the Bank of Spain, the CNMV and the Ministry of Economy, is for the population to acquire from very new solid competences to be able to manage their finances in the future,” explained Rivas.
The visit took place within the framework of the Global Money Week, a global campaign promoted by the OECD that highlights the importance of financial education for new people and that is in line with the Financial Education Plan, an initiative of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the Bank of Spain and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise that aims to improve the financial culture of citizens.
‘Giving that like doesn’t rent you. Take care of your money’ is the motto of this campaign, which emphasises the importance of being well informed before taking any steps that may compromise our finances and take care of our money when deciding.
The deputy delegate of the Government took the opportunity to congratulate the Bank of Spain “not only for this initiative, but for the work they carry out throughout the year in terms of financial education”. In this regard, he took the opportunity to recall that the deadline remains open until the end of the month for the education centers registered in the school program of financial education ‘Finance for all’ to register in the national contest of this edition.
Within the framework of this program, the Bank of Spain offers training sessions on aspects related to the planning of our personal finances, passing through knowledge of bank accounts and means of payment, financing options, fraud prevention, the management of electronic commerce, cryptoassets up to investment advice, among others.
“Financial education is the key to making more informed decisions and managing money, which results in a better quality of life for people, since they learn to avoid risks, promote savings, escape unnecessary indebtedness and, ultimately, gain peace of mind,” concluded the deputy delegate.
