The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today celebrated the investment of 1.5 million euros reached by local entities of Galicia in the line of aid of the Government to promote innovative projects of territorial dynamization and combat the phenomenon of depopulation in the concellos of the Demographic Challenge.
Pedro Blanco reported on the recent resolution of this call by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, which are part of the strategy developed by the Government for small concellos.
Pedro Blanco exemplified in this aid the Government’s commitment to territorial cohesion, so that quality public services are guaranteed to the whole population, “without ceasing to work for a rural full of opportunities, work and future”.
Thanks to this resolution, seven rural councillors (Quiroga, Ribeira de Piquín, Vilar de Barrio, Entrimo O Bolo, Parada de Sil and A Lama) and the Provincial Council of Pontevedra will be able to promote business projects, improving the tourist experience and sustainable mobility in their territories.
The delegate stressed the importance of this government investment, which dynamizes the activation of the territory at an economic, social and environmental level, with special attention to the gender perspective and to the groups as of new and old people. “This is a fair distribution, which guarantees that all citizens, and of course those who live in rural areas, have all the opportunities at their disposal,” said Pedro Blanco.
Eight projects in Galicia
The Government allocates a total of 1,500,752.51. It leaves in the province of Lugo 311,652 euros, 644,016.51 in Ourense and 545,084 in Pontevedra.
For projects, the council of Quiroga receives €111,690 for its municipal shelter, the council of Ribeira de Piquín receives €199,962 for the dynamization of agricultural labor, the council of Vilar de Barrio captures €180,000 for economic and tourist innovation, the council of Entrimo receives €180,000 for innovation in cohesion, the council of O Bolo is made with €180,000 for sustainable municipal initiatives, the council of Parada de Sil harvests €104,016.51 for improvements in the Moponezera of Santa Cristina d’Lamorca
That of 2024 was the third call for this aid from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, which left a total of 19.5 million euros in the small Spanish municipalities. In the previous calls, of 2022 and 2023, 40.2 million euros were given to local entities, which served to finance 452 projects throughout Spain. At the Galician level, these grants left in Galicia in the year 2023 a total of 1.7 million for 20 actions.
