The deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, and the mayor of Celanova, Antonio Puga, co-chaired the Local Security Board in which the situation regarding citizen security in the municipality was analyzed for this year, the cases of gender violence and the Master Plan.
As for citizen security, the data gathered by the Civil Guard show that both minor and serious crimes remain stabilized in the city hall and there is even a decrease in some parameter. As the government’s deputy delegate noted with respect, “there is stability in the data, which translates into security for neighbors and neighbors.” However, it highlights a slight rebound in cybersecurity crimes.
In addition, the meeting also planned that in 2025 a device will be put in place to increase surveillance and security in the most isolated rural centers, “to protect them from possible waves of robberies, especially in summer season,” Eladio Santos explained.
Likewise, the City of Celanova is in the process of developing an emergency and evacuation plan for the celebration of events, mainly for the Romería Raigame, which will take place as every year on May 17 in Vilanova de los Infantes.
Gender violence
Finally, in terms of gender violence, of the 518 active cases in the province to date, 8 correspond to the City of Celanova (two of medium risk and 6 of low risk).
In addition to the deputy delegate and the mayor, representatives of the Xunta de Galicia, Civil Guard and Local Police of Celanova were also present.
