The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas highlighted in Boiro the joint work carried out by the Civil Guard in collaboration with the Local Police to guarantee security in the municipality. She did so after presiding with the mayor, José Ramón Romero, the municipality’s Xunta Local de Seguridad, in which they noted the decrease in crime by 8% and the increase in the crime resolution rate, which stands at 42%, “proof of the good work these professionals are doing,” said the deputy delegate.
María Rivas said that the city of Boiro presents “a very stable situation” in which crime refers, while influencing the “immediate reaction” by the Security Forces and Bodies to any crime that occurs in the municipality. “With the data in hand, we demonstrated that Boiro is a safe city council, since serious crimes and minor crimes fell significantly between January and December last year,” said the deputy delegate.
At the meeting, which addressed such important issues as cybercrime or an analysis of the situation of gender violence in the municipality, the subdelegate stressed the importance of continuing to work on the prevention of cybercrime in all areas and set an example of the good results that the School Coexistence Master Plan is giving. In this respect, he recalled that in the academic year 2023-2024, six of the nine Boiro educational centers participated in the 58 activities that were developed within the framework of this program of the Government Delegation, the most demanded being those that revolve around cybersecurity (14), harassment and cyberbullying (12) and gender violence (8). These activities were attended by one total.de 1,249 people: 1209 students, 89 mothers and country and 58 teachers.
Coastal Proceedings
At the end of the meeting, in which they also analyzed the data related to gender violence, the subdelegate and the mayor went to the beach of Ladera de Chazo where, accompanied by the head of the Coastal Demarcation of Galicia, Carlos Gil, they toured the new pedestrian path, in which the Government invested 101,580.78 euros.
Second explained the subdelegate, the works consisted in the creation of a path of approximately 200 meters and 3 meters wide with a stabilized natural pavement, delimited by wooden edges and a lateral delimitation based on recycled plastic poles and nylon rope.
In addition, the transit and parking of vehicles was prevented by the public sea-land domain with the delimitation of the area and the environment of the sandy area was regenerated and foreign species were eliminated. “They are actions aimed, on the one hand, to improve the environmental quality of this space and, on the other, to offer more and better services to citizens,” said Rivas.
In this regard, the subdelegate recalled that this was not the only coordinated action between Costas and the City of Boiro, since this same year it also proceeded to the removal of landfills and the Neixón espigón, to the waterway in the beach of Barraña, or to the improvement of accessibility in the neighboring arenal of Carragueiros, “all of them signs of the commitment of the Government with Boiro and with the improvement of its coast, one of the attractions that every year brings thousands of visitors to this city council”, she concluded.
