The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, held today a working meeting with the mayor of Santiago de Compostela, Goretti Sanmartín; the commissioner of the National Police in this city, Nuria Palacios; the councilor for Mobility, Coexistence and Sociocultural Centers, Xan Duro, and representatives of the Local Police in which they highlighted the permanent communication between administrations and Security Forces and Bodies with the neighborhood entities to respond to the concerns of the citizens.
The subdelegate said that “the work is constant although many times it is not seen”. In this sense, he highlighted the initiatives of citizen participation, “a tool that enriches police action and allows to incorporate new lines of work to the Police Station.”
In relation to the problems of coexistence that neighborhood groups denounce, the subdelegate indicated that it is necessary to tackle them from different fronts, “with the involvement of social services, municipal and local police that from the Government we complement with research work by the National Police and the reinforcements of troops in the surveillance that we agreed with the Concello.” All in all, María Rivas assured that Santiago de Compostela is a safe city “and the Concello has all our support so that it continues to be so,” he said.
For this, he insisted, it is necessary to continue acting in different axes, such as prevention, investigation and police presence where required, “always in permanent communication with neighbors, and that is what we are working on,” he concluded.
