The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted in Ares the impact of the DUS5000 program in Galicia, where it has invested almost 45 M€ to modernize infrastructures and services in rural areas. He did so during the supervision of the result of the works in the sports hall of Ares, together with the mayor, Julio Iglesias, and the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas.
Pedro Blanco highlighted the work of the Government in favor of the dynamization of small municipalities, where he bets on a rural alive and full of opportunities “that drives with concrete actions to improve the life of the neighborhood while other administrations cut resources for local entities.” In this field, the delegate valued programs such as the DUS5000, “which allow the improvement of municipal and regional facilities throughout Galicia guaranteeing their energy efficiency”.
The delegate emphasized the impact of this initiative of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge in the rural Galician and Corunnese. In this province, the Government invests through DUS5000 more than 12 million euros in 11 concellos.
The funds reach directly the municipal coffers of Boqueixón, Cabana de Bergantiños, A Capela, Cerceda, Curtis, Lousame, Vilasantar, Porto do Son, Val do Dubra and the concello of Ares itself. In addition, it benefits the Valdoviño through the Provincial Council of A Coruña.
During the visit to the renovated Ares pavilion, Pedro Blanco congratulated its mayor for providing the city council with “modern and sustainable” infrastructures taking advantage of the Recovery Plan. He valued the Government’s investment in this concello, to which he allocates more than 4 million euros “to advance in the digital transition and in the enhancement of its heritage with programs such as the 2% cultural, which finances with about 3 million to the restoration of such unique buildings of Ares as the Monastery of Santa Catalina”, or the UNICO Broadband Plan.
