The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted today that the Plan of Coexistence and Improvement of School Safety advances “unstoppably in Galicia” reaching in the year 2024 that 145,000 people in 5,000 training activities in schools in the Community. Pedro Blanco detailed these figures “with the satisfaction of the duty fulfilled” during the meeting of the Autonomous Commission of Follow-up of this Plan, promoted by the Ministry of the Interior.
The delegate pointed out that in the year 2024 the participation of students, teachers, and parents in the training activities offered by the Civil Guard and National Police Force teams increased by 17%. “In addition, the number of centers amounted to 953, which represents 73.25% of the total in Galicia, a figure that continues to rise and reflects the growing interest in this initiative,” he added.
The specialized teams of National Police and Civil Guard carried out 5,000 training and prevention activities in this center, “a milestone that had never been reached in a natural year,” said Pedro Blanco. These talks addressed, in order of relevance, the topics of bullying and cyberbullying in schools, cybersecurity, gender and sexual violence and the prevention of different types of addiction. Regarding them, the delegate stressed that “they show us the current concerns of the educational community in Galicia”.
Active Vigilance
The School Coexistence Plan also provides for the active surveillance of schools by security forces and bodies. Pedro Blanco reported that in the past year about 12,000 vigilances were carried out in the environment of the educational centers. As a result of this activity, the National Police and Civil Guard deactivated eleven drug outlets: six in the province of Lugo and five in the province of A Coruña.

The Director of Education of the Government Delegation in Galicia, Xosé Lois García Carballido, the Superior Chief of Police, those responsible for the Government’s Violence against Women units, the Deputy Director General of Inclusion and Educational Innovation of the Xunta and the Secretary General of the Government Delegation, among other attendees, also participated in today’s meeting.
The delegate stressed that these meetings are also a recognition of the specialized teams of the Civil Guard and the National Police in the four provinces, as well as the educational inspection of the Xunta, the personnel of the Inspection area of the Government Delegation, the subdelegations and the schools.
