The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, reaffirmed in Lugo the leadership of the Galician food sector in Spain. He did so during a visit to the facilities of the company Cafés Candelas in which he was accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez; the mayor of the city, Paula Alvarellos, and the provincial deputy, Miguel Fernández. There he gave as an example of reference the Lucense coffee company, “a family company with more than half a century of history that went from a small warehouse in Lugo to lead the sale of coffee to the hospitality industry in Spain”.
The delegate, who thanked the reception of the Alonso family, stressed that this constant commitment to improve Cafés Candelas is based on pillars such as innovation, sustainability and improving people’s lives, “a path that this government also shares”, he said.
Pedro Blanco took the opportunity to get to know with his supporters the project to build a new production plant in the neighboring polygon of the Gandaras. In this sense, he transferred to the managers of Cafés Candelas the different lines of financing that the Government has open and the unique opportunity represented by the funds of the Recovery Plan, which already leave in Galicia 3,702 million euros of investment of which more than 80% is in vain to the Galician business fabric.
“With this plant, the company will consolidate its commitment to Lugo and will do so by lifting what will be the most modern factory in Spain, an example of sustainability and a benchmark in terms of innovation in its sector,” said the delegate, who offered “at the outset of the Government” so that this and other projects can move from paper to reality.
In this same vein, the mayor of Lugo, Paula Alvarellos, highlighted that “companies like Cafés Candelas are committed to growing and retaining Lucense talent in our city and to creating jobs, an objective in which we are also working from the City Council, convinced that facilitating the implementation of companies that in turn create jobs will allow the Lucenses to remain in Lugo, develop their lives here and contribute to the growth and progress of this city.”
At the same time, he highlighted the pioneering and innovative project that Cafés Candelas is carrying out in the polygon of the Gandaras, after the Concello approved last September the building license for the construction of its future plant, with which it will expand its production from 23 to 58 tons and generate 120 new direct and indirect jobs.
