The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, and the mayor of Viana do Bolo, Andrés Montesinos, co-chaired the Local Security Board in which the situation of citizen security in the municipality, cases of gender violence, the Master Plan for Coexistence in educational centers were analyzed and the security device was coordinated for the upcoming Carnival celebrations.
With regard to citizen security, in the area of Viana do Bolo and Vilariño de Conso 44 criminal acts were recorded in the year 2024, most of them related to fires or improper burning or cybercrime. Data that show that the situation is “stabilized for years. They are quiet municipalities, without security problems,” said the deputy delegate.
In relation to cases of gender violence, six cases remain active in Viana, one of them of special relevance. For its part, Vilariño de Conso adds two active cases, one of them of high risk, which is being followed up especially by the Civil Guard to guarantee the safety of the woman under threat. “They are not many, but they are. As long as there is only one case of gender violence, we must be vigilant and protect, because what is at stake is the freedom and integrity of a woman,” said Eladio Santos.
In addition, the meeting also reviewed the preventive actions framed in the application of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and in their environments, with which we work in the search to avoid violent behaviors and addictive habits among children. In this regard, the Civil Guard detailed that eight sessions have been held so far in the course, focusing mainly on cybercrime and the use of social networks. In this same line, framed within the Greater Plan, an informative talk was held aimed at older people, to give them guidelines on the use of the mobile phone and the prevention of cybercrime, because this group is suffering them more and more frequently.
